What to expect at your first visit
One week before the first visit you will receive a link to log in and complete intake paperwork. The paperwork includes information about privacy, consent, and fees. The initial visit lasts approximately 50 minutes. During that time we will discuss: 1. Any questions you have about the paperwork and/or counseling 2. What brings you in, symptoms you are experiencing, how long they have been going on and how they impact your life and 3. How you want your life to be.

-
What kind of counselling do you do?
I value the use of evidence based practices in therapy. My primary orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (aka CBT). This is the idea that our thoughts, emotions, and reactions to a situation are related and changeable. Using brief mindfulness practices during CBT sessions helps you recognize your reactions in the moment. and make choices based on that information. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills (DBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). DBT uses mindfulness and skill building to manage strong emotional reactions. CPT is rooted in CBT and is one of three treatments that are "strongly recommended" by the American Psychological Association for PTSD.
